Working with a global supplier base of craft breweries and independent wineries, you will be working closely with our experienced buying and supply chain leaders to deliver exciting, high-quality beers and wines to our members at an exceptional value.

About role

Supporting the Head Buyers on Beer & Wine with procuring products for Beer52 and Wine52 subscriptions as well as seasonal/specials boxes and additional retail opportunities and assisting with the selection and administration of the best products at the best prices to generate profit for the organisation and facilitate new customer acquisition and retention via quality of the product. The role also involves Beer52 and Wine52 quality and technical testing.

About you

The successful candidate will have proficient commercial and/or procurement experience ideally in the drinks or similar industry. You must have strong commercial skills and have the ability to identify opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Working with the Head Buyers to curate and deliver products on time, on budget, and of high quality for customers to optimise retention.
  • Working with the Head of Buying to identify opportunities for compelling and attractive monthly themes, including direct-to-brewery purchasing and the creation of bespoke contract-brewed themes.
  • Supporting the Head Buyers with the tender process for direct-to-brewery or contract brew purchasing, specifically targeting the overall buying budget and buying terms.
  • Negotiating costs by CPU against budget targets and management.
  • Leading administrative tasks to record and maintain accurate product descriptions, all costs, and purchasing terms within the box schedule for company wide visibility.
  • Handle initial contacts from potential partners to triage opportunities for the Head Buyers whilst maintaining a positive profile for Beer52 and WIne52.
  • Outreach to potential new suppliers, presenting our unique business model to them with a view to building a long-term win-win relationship.
  • Create and share accurate Purchase Orders & Supplier Agreements.
  • Organise and administrate internal and external quality testing processes.
  • Tracking and monitoring theme and beer performance against agreed targets, sharing results and actions with the wider company.

Skills and experience

  • Product Curation and Delivery: The ability to collaborate with senior buyers to curate high-quality products and to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification: The capacity to identify and capitalize on opportunities for monthly themes and direct brewery purchases as well as assessing market trends.
  • Negotiation and Cost Management: Skilled in negotiating costs against budget targets. Capable of managing purchasing terms to drive cost savings and margin improvements.
  • Administration and Documentation: Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records of product descriptions, costs, and purchasing terms. Ensuring company-wide visibility and transparency of purchasing activities.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Ability to triage initial contacts and build positive relationships to build long-term partnerships.
  • Collaboration and Cross-Departmental Coordination: Working with operations and other departments to identify strategic opportunities.
  • Quality Assurance and Technical Support: Ability to organise and administer quality testing processes, monitor and review product performance and address any issues.
