Location:                    Artelium Wine Estate, Streat Lane, Streat, Sussex, BN6 8SA
Hours of work:          30-36 hours per week

Predominantly Thursday to Sunday, with hospitality admin support on Wednesdays. (Annualised hours may be considered)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Front of House & Guest Experience : Lead hospitality service, ensuring all guest areas are impeccably presented and customer service is outstanding. Oversee the setup, organisation, and delivery of exceptional guest experiences,
  • Team Leadership & Management: Supervise and manage the hospitality team during shifts, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance. Manage hiring of seasonal hospitality staff, organise rotas, and ensure effective team communication.
  • Service Standards & Customer Feedback: Maintain, uphold, enforce, and train staff on service standards to ensure consistency and excellence in all guest interactions. Implement systems to gather customer feedback and use it to continuously improve the service and offerings.
  • Event Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of both private and public events, ensuring they run smoothly and maximising customer satisfaction and spend per head.
  • Budget & Financial Management: Assist in managing budgets, controlling costs, and conducting weekly financial close. Share responsibility for revenue, costs, and stock management.
  • Technology & Systems: Oversee the use of technology and systems within the hospitality area, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Housekeeping: Ensure high standards of cleanliness and organisation in guest areas and throughout the wider estate.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all hospitality operations comply with health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards and licensing laws.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with retail, operations managers, and the broader team to ensure the smooth running of all estate and business operations.

 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a hospitality supervisor or management role, preferably in a high-end or boutique setting.
  • WSET Level 2 or 3 preferred. An understanding and appreciation of English Wines particularly is highly advantageous.
  • Educated to degree-level or higher with a relevant qualification in hospitality or business management desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with customers and team members alike.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise effectively.
  • Familiarity with hospitality management software (e.g., POS systems, booking platforms) and basic IT proficiency.

The successful candidate will be expected to work during our peak periods, which occur Thursday through Sunday. As a Manager, you will be required to cover approximately 75% of our operational hours, typically working three out of the four days, or adjusting your hours to ensure adequate coverage during peak times.
