WineGB is the Trade Association for UK wine.  We are seeking an experienced and creative Head of Communications and Marketing to take our rebrand and mission to the next level, and champion the rise of UK wine to national and international audiences.

WineGB

We represent over 500 growers and producers, around 70% of UK vineyard hectarage, providing them with the tools, support, and visibility to grow their businesses. From industry guidance to national campaigns like English Wine Week and the WineGB Awards, we’re at the heart of the UK’s wine revolution.

We’ve just undergone a vibrant rebrand and launched a bold three-year strategy to strengthen our position as a world-class wine region. Now, we’re looking for a communications leader to help shape how that story is told.

The role

As Head of Communications and Marketing, you’ll report directly to the CEO and play a central role in shaping and delivering all aspects of WineGB’s communications strategy.

You’ll manage a small, growing team and lead on:

  • Strategic communications and campaign planning
  • Content creation across digital, media, and member channels
  • Proactive and reactive media relations
  • Major events and public campaigns
  • Website, email, and social media content

You’ll be hands-on, forward-thinking, and a confident voice for the organisation,  both behind the scenes and in the media when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead and evolve WineGB’s communications strategy across all channels
  • Manage a small communications team, with potential for future growth
  • Collaborate with the CEO, Board, and industry working groups to align messaging and strategy

Content & Campaigns

  • Craft compelling content including press releases,speeches, blog posts, and newsletters
  • Oversee campaigns including English Wine Week, the WineGB Awards, and national trade tastings
  • Ensure consistency of tone and brand across all outputs

Media Relations

  • Build and manage strong relationships with UK and international media
  • Handle all media engagement, from press briefings to crisis communications
  • Lead on proactive media planning and response to incoming stories

Digital & Online

  • Guide website content and SEO strategy for maximum engagement
  • Oversee social media strategy and output (delivered by a team member)
  • Use analytics to refine digital performance

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • Proven experience in PR, communications, or marketing in the alcohol, wine, or FMCG sectors
  • Outstanding writing and storytelling skills with a strong eye for detail
  • Confident working at pace. Ability to balance short-term comms needs with long-term strategy
  • Experience leading or managing people and working cross-functionally
  • A natural collaborator, comfortable engaging with members, media, and industry stakeholders

Desirable

  • Strong knowledge of the UK wine industry (or a genuine passion to dive in)
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to visit vineyards around the country
