Head of Analysis

Wine Lister is looking for an outstanding Head of Analysis to join our fast-growing fine wine consulting agency.

JOB SUMMARY

Working directly with the CEO and other members of the team, the Head of Analysis will play a vital role in Wine Lister’s continued growth. You will drive the continued development of Wine Lister’s data-driven offerings, while overseeing the production of a broad range of custom reports for Wine Lister’s impressive base of fine wine producer clients (from Lafite to Billecart-Salmon). This will include owning several client accounts and managing key relationships.

  • Location: Victoria, Central London (office-based work with limited WFH)
  • Start date: 16th September 2024
  • Contract terms: full-time
  • Salary: £38k-48k per annum depending on experience
  • Holidays: 24 days excluding public holidays

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bespoke consulting: working with our consulting clients to understand their needs, and identifying and implementing the appropriate methods of research in order to provide insights and recommendations
  • Data sourcing: managing current and future data streams (qualitative and quantitative), owning and cultivating relationships with business and technology partners, carrying out proprietary surveys with our extensive network of fine wine players, etc.
  • Project management: lead and manage projects end-to-end, from client and marketing reports to internal product development, ensuring that best practices have been implemented to specification and on time
  • Business development: develop sales opportunities with existing and potential clients through networking, pitches, and building proposals, including travel to wine regions and wine fairs, always helping to grow and refine the scope of WL’s consulting offering to meet clients’ needs

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Data: experience managing and manipulating large datasets, thanks to advanced Excel skills. Base knowledge of SQL, VBA, Tableau and Power BI will be an advantage
  • Presentation: experience transforming data into meaningful charts and infographics, to extract impactful insights, e.g. using PowerPoint
  • Management: strong skills organising and delegating work across other members of the team, ensuring the completion of the final project to deadline
  • Product development: experience with product development and its related methodologies and tools (scrum, agile, Jira, etc.)
  • Languages: native-level English required; fluent French desired; Italian would be an advantage

  • Numeracy & literacy: possessing an excellent grasp of figures and quantitative analysis, as well as exceptional communication skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Academic excellence: top grades through to degree level
  • Fine wine knowledge: pre-existing knowledge of wine, particularly the fine wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne (also Italy, Spain, California, etc.). WSET Level 3 or higher will be an advantage
  • Consulting experience: prior work experience in the field of consulting would be an advantage
  • Business acumen: an understanding of how business works, in particular winery businesses and the wine market
