The job in a nutshell

This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring efficient and compliant receiving of inventory, day to day warehouse management and order fulfilment.

Your role is responsible for the direct management of the Warehouse in DC to ensure smooth execution of all operational processes and a high level of service for our customers. As well as inbound international supply chain and transfers of stock between warehouses and countries across UK, the US and direct from suppliers. The key responsibilities are:

  • Leading the Warehouse team and end to end running and management of the facility.
  • All orders picked, packed and dispatched OTIF.
  • All warehouse running safely and compliantly within OSHA guidelines.
  • Maximising stock availability for our customers.
  • Work collaboratively with wider departments & functions at Berry Bros. & Rudd to enable the business to function effectively.
  • To ensure that the business complies with its statutory and procedural requirements in the execution of the logistics supply chain activities.
  • Provide support to all colleagues within the on the ground operations department to enable the department to support the objectives and values of the business.

Who you will work with

Internal:            This role is cross functional so as well as being a key member of the Operations team you will work closely with Buying, Finance and other relevant departments where appropriate.

External:           Key part of the role is managing the relationships with the freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers. Also working closely with relevant departments to liaise with suppliers and ensure smooth and timely collection of inbound stock. Support the management and performance of all 3PLs in the US markets.

What you will do

  • Be accountable and responsible for supply chain and logistics performance in the US, give clear visibility of current status.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational success.
  • Improve the service we offer to our customers, both internal and external – Berry Bros. & Rudd is a luxury business, and our customer services need to match.
  • Drive efficiency improvements in all elements of the supply chain.
  • Develop deep working relationship with our 3PL partners –partner with them to ensure their service is an extension of our brand and hold them to account if service levels are not met.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance to optimize operational costs.

What you will bring to the role

Experience / Achievements

  • A strong track record of operational leadership in the wine industry with relevant and recent experience including:
    • Warehouse Management
    • International in-bound logistics
    • Management of 3PLs and their performance
  • Prior dealings with Customs importation processes in place with the US
  • Previous experience of working with 3PLs and a complete understanding of the complexities involved.
