Burrows Lightbourn is Bermuda’s leading beverage alcohol distributor and retailer. The company exclusively represents many of the world’s most iconic beer, spirits, wine, and non-alcoholic beverage brands. This includes core brands from the portfolios of Bacardi, Diageo, Heineken, Carlsberg, E & J Gallo, Treasury Wine Estates, and Icelandic Glacial Water. Our direct to consumer division, Discovery Wines & Spirits (“DWS”), focuses on the premium/ super premium wines and niche spirits categories in the retail and online channels.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Retail and e-Commerce Manager defines and implements the strategy for achieving growth of Discovery Wines & Spirits’ Retail and E-Commerce businesses by creating a premium in-store and online customer experience. Sets standards and targets for a multi store team and ensuring that branding, sales and marketing objectives are met. Reports to CEO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• In conjunction with store managers and the CEO, sets and owns targets for P&L performance and key metrics for the group retail and ecommerce businesses. Directly manages and has P&L responsibility for one retail outlet.

• Defines and executes a differentiated premium customer experience, both instore and online in terms of service levels, instore design and fit out and product merchandising.

• Sets overarching goals for effective branding, marketing and sales plans including tasting events, promotions, social media and direct to consumer communications. Works with Marketing Manager to define detailed plan and its effective execution.

• Designs programs that drive loyalty and repeat buying including subscription memberships.

• Works with Sales and Wine Director to define retail product catalogue, positioning and pricing strategies for all beverage categories.

• Monitors the competitive landscape, product and consumer trends and adjusts planning as needed.

• Develops and manages a high-performing team that can achieve a premium customer experience and division sales and profitability objectives. Develops training programs that ensure product knowledge and sales skills objectives are met. Align employee compensation models with overall performance targets.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Completion of WSET Level 3 or 4 in Wine or equivalent certification – essential.

• University/college qualification in Business or Hospitality/ Tourism – desirable

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of retail store management experience in the premium wines and spirits sector. Deep knowledge of associated retail performance metrics and executing sales, marketing and customer experience strategies – essential

• Supervisory/management experience working with a retail sales team – essential

• Minimum 2 years of ecommerce management experience including a detailed understanding of related metrics and best practices utilizing the Shopify platform – desirable

• Store design, refitting and opening experience – desirable

• Beverage/Food Service experience – desirable

• Experience in event management environment – desirable
