Wine Development Manager - Germany

The Wine Development Manager Germany (w/m/d) is responsible for developing MH Wines Estates Brands commercial success, distribution and awareness, in alignment with the business development & commercial growth strategy. Our portfolio is divided between Core Brands (Minuty, Château d’Esclans, Château Galoupet, Cloudy Bay and Terrazas de los Andes) and Fine Wines (Joseph Phelps and Bodega Numanthia).





  • Build commercial strategies to reach budget within different channels and according to brand objectives (lifestyle brands vs fine wines) together with commercial directors.
  • Define value chain and efficient pricing strategy taking into consideration competitive environment
  • Drive mix premiumization and innovative business development opportunities
  • Fine Wines: establish clear hit list of existing and “to conquer” accounts to build relevant account universes and create tension between offer and demand
  • Build key momentums around wines
  • Ensure close and regular feedbacks to Business Development Director



  • Ensure accurate forecasting and smooth supply Management with Supply team & Maison
  • Develop a go to market strategy ; for each of the maison (vintages release / momentum building)




  • Lifestyle brands:
  • Support the work of commercial teams- JBP, top customers visits – to maximize distribution.
  • ‘Open bottles’ mindset: Be supportive and help the sales teams winning or increasing #of listings within MH active accounts / win new accounts.
  • Deploy rosés portfolio strategy successfully
  • Work together with marketing teams to enhance brand visibility (events) and impact (ROS) in-store and spot effective activation / partnerships opportunities ​


  • Fine Wines:
  • Create “pull demand” : adopt a very selective distribution strategy, by developing strong and intimate relationships with key stakeholders of the fine wine scene (FWM, specialists, influencers, collectors) to build long lasting businesses opportunities and increase our brands desirability.
  • Support new vintage launch (sell in) as well as customers’ depletion (sell out) by animating diners, tastings and activities with clients.
  • Work with Private clients’ teams.
  • Decide on allocation scheme together with business analyst (BDD team) and maison.
  • Coordinate annual maisons visit in the markets




  • Personify our brands, living and breathing their DNA, act as the #1 ambassador in the market during events, diners and key meetings.
  • Develop & deliver inspiring brand education plans on MHWE wine brands (internal and external: in-store tastings, fairs, shows, partnerships)​)
  • Ensure sales team are fully equipped with relevant and up-to-date selling tools & knowledge to effectively sell wines
  • Support sales’ community with trade trainings and communication actions on the field in


MHDE sales teams

  • Actively participate in the MHWE wine development managers global community (regular calls and gatherings)




  • Business / University degree


Professional experience & know how:

  • Exceptional wine knowledge and passion for the entire wines & spirits industry and culture
  • Around 8 years working in the wines & spirits industry
  • Fine Wines Business understanding is needed
  • Strong network within wine specialists and merchants’ channels – Gastronomy is a plus
  • Proven business acumen with a strategic mindset
  • Effective executional leadership
  • Ability to foster cross-functional teamwork and collaborate seamlessly across departments
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with stakeholders, clients, and team members



  • Fluent in German and English is a must



  • This role will be remote, location is flexible, however preferred location would be West Germany ie area Frankfurt, Düsseldorf or close to our office in Munich
  • The job requires a lot of travel
