Role overview

The Wine Development Manager is responsible for the development of the wine category and wine development within DWUK.  They will have extensive wine knowledge with a good track record in wine sales and possess the ability to identify profitable and sustainable new business in on trade.

They will inspire and support our Key Account Managers to maximise existing account opportunities. The Wine Development Manager will plan their day effectively to drive sales in line with our company vision.  You will produce a monthly board presentation pack,  present a wine update in the monthly sales meetings and assist in curating and developing the DWUK/Sheridan Coopers Wine Portfolio.   You will maximise profitability by identifying DWUK’s own brand opportunities working closely with our Sales Director to align strategies with our Company vision.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Key Account Managers on new and existing wine accounts
  • Track and report the wine category performance
  • Maintaining and updating the live customer prospect list
  • Account management of the top 5% of each Key Account Manager’s customer base
  • Wine reviews to be undertaken half yearly with agreed top 50 wine accounts within regions
  • Maximise wine opportunities through quarterly account reviews with Key Account Managers to inspire and motivate the team with updated information
  • Working in trade
  • Commercially building wine lists in-line with market trends
  • Management of samples
  • Completing weekly call logs and uploading them to the internal system
  • Work closely with the Purchasing team on forecasts
  • Take ownership of Wine Tastings and wine led events
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and feedback to the Managing Director
  • Ensure the portfolio is fully utilised across our customer base

Key Skills

  • Background in Wines and relevant accreditations to validate this, such as WSET in wines
  • Commercial experience of selling wine (on-trade) and meeting growth targets
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively in a data driven environment.
  • High level proficiency in IT systems and software including Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, including planning and problem solving
  • A conscientious, proactive and positive approach to daily tasks
  • You will have a Full UK Driving Licence.
