Based in the north of England, this role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities focused on driving revenue and fostering relationships within the industry.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, assisting in the development of effective sales strategies, achieving sales and profit targets, and building awareness of the Flint portfolio by organising and supporting successful producer visits and events.
This role requires a clear understanding of the UK fine wine market and will appeal to an individual with a genuine passion for wine as well as an enthusiasm for building new routes to market for high quality wines.
With a strong focus on the wines of Burgundy, as well as Italy and the USA, an ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of classic wine regions and styles of the Old and New World but most importantly, a desire to continue developing wine knowledge.
Crucial to this role is a highly organised, self-disciplined, and self-motivated approach, and a results-driven mentality in a competitive industry.
Purpose of the Role: |
- Drive revenue: develop and deliver an effective sales approach with the direct aim of increasing sales and expanding market share.
- Develop & maintain client relationships: build and maintain relationships with clients including distributors, merchants/retailers, restaurants, and other stakeholders within the industry. Through this, you can secure new business opportunities, maintain existing accounts, and foster loyalty.
- Develop producer awareness: With a high-quality portfolio of over 160 producers from around the world you will be working to increase the presence and brand recognition of our producers
- Represent the company: You represent our brand and values, helping to enhance our reputation within the industry, attracting new customers and producers to the business and creating a positive presence.
Key Responsibilities: |
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, identify new potential business, open new accounts and convert these into sales, ensuring you hit your sales targets.
- Stay abreast of market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities. Utilise these insights to identify opportunities for growth and to assess risk.
- Continue to develop a deep understanding of the Flint portfolio. Offer training to customers where required to support effective sales and build loyalty.
- Give support and represent Flint at company-wide portfolio and industry events, winemaker visits, masterclasses, etc.
- Manage costs to budget, including expenses and sample budget.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that we maintain a strong, supportive team environment.

What Success Looks Like: |
- Meeting and exceeding the annual sales revenue targets set by Flint. This includes sales from some existing accounts as well as well as a strong focus on acquiring new customers and building business in the north of England. This can also include maintaining or improving profitability.
- Increasing the company’s market share and visibility within the current industry. This can be achieved by outperforming competitors, getting new by the glass listings, getting “whole list” accounts, and opening key clients in new areas.
- Successfully acquiring new customers while also retaining existing ones. This involves building strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs, and providing exceptional service.
- Expanding the distribution network of the company’s wines by securing new partnerships with restaurants, wine bars, hotels and merchant/retailers.
- Developing and implementing effective sales strategies that align with the company’s overall objectives. This might include activities such as maximising ‘en primeur’ campaign sales or driving sales of designated producers to reduce physical stock levels.
- Ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction by delivering quality products and services, as well as addressing customer concerns promptly.
- Contributing to the long-term growth and sustainability of the company by fostering strong relationships with customers, building brand loyalty, and identifying and developing opportunities
