Tour & Tasting Hosts (Multiple Roles, Part-Time & Ad hoc)

We are seeking enthusiastic and engaging Vineyard Tour and Tasting Hosts to join our team on a part-time, ad hoc basis. As a Tour & Tasting Host, you will be a brand ambassador playing a key role in representing Artelium, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and sharing our story and wines with a diverse audience. We are looking for individuals who can convey high brand values and advocate for an accessible, non-pretentious approach to wine.

Location:                    Artelium Wine Estate, Streat Lane, Streat, Sussex, BN6 8SA

Hours of work:        Part-time, ad hoc, primarily on weekends

Reports to:                Tasting Room Manager

Start Date:                 August

Salary:                        Competitive hourly rate + sales incentives

THE ROLE:
We are looking for passionate and charismatic Vineyard Tour and Tasting Hosts to guide visitors through our vineyards, share the Artelium story, and lead wine tastings. This role requires exceptional communication skills, a genuine passion for wine, and the ability to engage with a wide range of audiences, from casual visitors to corporate clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guided Tours: Lead engaging and informative vineyard tours, sharing insights about our sustainable viticulture practices, the history of Artelium, and the English wine industry.
  • Wine Tastings: Host guided tastings, offering detailed descriptions of our wines, explaining tasting notes, and pairing suggestions, while ensuring an enjoyable and educational experience for all guests.
  • Customer Engagement: Act as an ambassador for Artelium, building rapport with visitors, answering questions, and creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Private & Corporate Events: Facilitate private and corporate tours and tastings, tailoring your approach to suit the needs and preferences of different groups.
  • Brand Advocacy: Uphold and communicate Artelium’s brand values, promoting an accessible and non-pretentious approach to wine appreciation.
  • Sales: Assist with wine sales and provide recommendations to visitors, helping them select the perfect wines to take home.
  • Wine Club Acquisition: Actively promote and encourage visitors to join the Artelium Wine Club, highlighting the benefits and exclusive offerings available to members, and contributing to the growth of our loyal customer base.
  • Venue Preparation: Ensure that the tasting room and visitor areas are well-prepared and presentable before each tour and tasting, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organisation. 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in the hospitality, tourism, or wine industry.
  • A solid understanding of wine, with a particular interest in English wines. WSET Level 2 or higher is desirable but not essential.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, with the ability to tell engaging stories and simplify complex information for a wide range of audiences.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic, with a passion for sharing your knowledge and creating memorable experiences for visitors.
  • Ability to work on an ad hoc basis, primarily during weekends and peak visitor periods.
