About The Role
The Senior Category Manager – Portfolio & Growth plays a key role in enabling One Vinarchy. Reporting to the Head of Category and Insights, this role is responsible for leading category, consumer and portfolio insight to shape Vinarchy’s long‑term growth strategy across EMEA.
The role identifies where the wine and wine‑based drinks category is heading and translates those insights into clear portfolio direction, brand growth priorities and innovation platforms. Critically, the role also drives activation — ensuring category strategy is translated into executable growth initiatives, innovation concepts and commercial opportunities that support future consumer demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Own category foresight across wine and wine‑based drinks, identifying emerging growth drivers and future consumer trends
- Translate category evolution into clear growth priorities that inform portfolio, brand and innovation strategies
- Define portfolio architecture across Pillar, Disruptor, Expansion and Advantage brands, identifying whitespace opportunities across price tiers, formats, styles and occasions
- Recommend portfolio mix shifts to drive growth, premiumisation and margin accretion, supporting the 2030 portfolio roadmap and strategic planning cycles
- Define insight‑led innovation territories and growth platforms, partnering with Innovation and Brand teams to prioritise, validate and size opportunities
- Ensure category strategy translates into tangible growth initiatives by developing execution toolkits and supporting go‑to‑market planning for innovation launches
- Provide category insight to shape brand positioning, recruitment strategies and priority occasions across the portfolio
- Act as Vinarchy’s internal authority on category dynamics, delivering compelling category narratives and championing consumer‑led growth thinking across the organisation
Your Experience / Capability
- Significant experience in Category, Insights, Trade Marketing or Sales roles within FMCG, with retailer‑facing responsibility
- Demonstrated expertise using NielsenIQ/Circana, loyalty datasets and shopper analysis platforms
- Proven ability to manage and influence senior customer relationships
- Strong capability in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience building sophisticated reports, templates and presentations
- Experience using planogramming tools and category visualisation software
- Ability to integrate diverse data sources into clear, coherent narratives and strategic recommendations
- Strong commercial acumen, understanding financial levers and the revenue and profit impact of category strategies
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to operate autonomously and manage multiple priorities
