On-Trade Sales Account Manager

A bit about us

Hey, we’re New Theory, a low-intervention wine brand based in London, making wine around the world.

It was time to smash down the barrier to wine so we set out on a journey to make wine approachable and we are looking for someone smart to join us.

We are a grape to glass business – meaning we purchase grapes at harvest and are hands on all the way through until our sippers enjoy a glass. This means we know exactly what it is in each bottle.

We’re a young ambitious startup and you will be joining the team as employee number five. For the right person this means helping to shape the way we do things at New Theory and having a hand in helping us rethink the way customers discover and consume wine, building on our existing listings such as Mangal II, Oren, Dishoom and Selfridges.

We call this wine 2.0. Welcome to a new sip.

A bit about you

You have spent at least two years already in a sales role in the drinks industry. You have a black-book of on-trade accounts that you can introduce the brand to. You are raring and eager to get stuck into something new. You have a love for brand building and are a creative problem solver at heart. You enjoy talking to, and building relationships, with customers. You understand and admire new digital-first brands and are keen to get under the bonnet and shape the UK’s next big thing in wine.

The role

This sales role reports directly to the co-founder, working closely with our sales lead and other sales executives. We are looking for someone who is proactive and can drive new business in the on-trade sector whilst building rate of sale within our current on-trade accounts.

Occasional support with marketing activities will also be required. As with the nature of this role, you may be required to be present at various tastings, work at events and undertake some travel for work.

Sales responsibilities (90%):

  • New Business: You will be in charge of growing our independent on-trade channel. Owning the entire sales cycle from generating leads, converting customers through to onboarding and account management.
  • Account management: nurturing relationships, building long-term partnerships, identifying opportunities within existing customers and implementing these changes.
  • Trade tasting and education: Assisting on trade tastings and staff education sessions.

Marketing responsibilities (10%):

  • Events and activations: helping to produce events and activations up and down the country. Helping to support collaborations with other events and brands. Due to the nature of the job this may well include some travel and occasional out-of-office hours.
  • Marketing materials and special projects: Working closely with the co-founders to develop ad hoc marketing materials and supporting special projects as needed.

On top of a competitive salary (£30-35k), we offer:

  • A multifaceted role for someone who likes to keep moving forward
  • Blend of remote and office working
  • Autonomy to forge the way we work as a business, we are all ears
  • Stock options in the business
  • Monthly wine allowance
  • Regular wine tastings
  • London Z1-3 travelcard
  • Phone allowance
  • Access to events
  • The tools you need to get the job done
