Off-trade Intern - London

Position

 

  • As the intern for the off-trade you will craft branded experiences across the off-trade channel, that will drive both brand visibility and sales volumes.
  • Leading the planning and delivery for your off-trade customers, engaging both internally and externally with key stakeholders, the off-trade intern role is pivotal to the successful delivery of best-in-class activations and the off-trade sales targets.
  • This is a key position in the Off-Trade team that elevates our brand visibility in the off-trade to our consumers, whilst supporting the delivery of our business goals.

Job Responsibilities

In the off-trade trade marketing team, you will work with the Off-Trade Activation Manager and support the delivery of JBPs and the brand objectives in the grocery, specialists, fine wine merchants and cash & carry channels. Responsibilities will include:

Grocery:

 

  • Work closely with the Off-Trade Activation Manager to plan, deliver and review key activations across the major 5x retailers – Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, Waitrose.
  • Work with the grocery account managers to ensure that agreed JBPs are executed to their full potential and within the parameters of the agreed plan;
  • Engage and manage the work of the field merchandising agency to ensure strong execution of our activations, promotional calendars and key seasonal drivers.

Specialists & FWM:

 

  • Work closely with the Off-Trade Activation Manager to plan, deliver and review key activations across the channel and key customers – Majestic, Jeroboams, Hedonism, Berry Brother’s & Rudd, Amathus, Bordeaux Index, and more.
  • Work with the channel account managers to understand the needs of their customers, and work on creative toolkits to support delivery of key brand visibility and rate of sale driving tools;
  • Engage and manage the work of the field merchandising agency to ensure strong execution of our activations, promotional calendars and key seasonal drivers in Majestic Wines.

Cash & Carry:

 

  • Support the planning, delivery and implementation of activations across the C&C channel – Dhamecha, Costco, Bestway, Co-Op;
  • Work with account managers to ensure timely execution of best in class / quality activations;

Manage the field agency for this channel and ensure budget plan is delivered monthly

Key responsibilities needed for success across the 3x channels are:

 

  • Lead briefs in the creation and the delivery of activations and touchpoints through third-party agencies;
  • Engage brand teams to ensure timely sign off on activations and ensure there is regular collaboration / developed trust of your plans;
  • Integrate recommendations of the trade marketing plans into negotiations with customers and media planners to enhance the value of the MHUK visibility and win the best placements for our brands;
  • Engage the business in merchandising campaigns during key seasonal moments such as Father’s Day and Christmas;
  • Run a review and quarterly analysis of activations, KPI results and learnings to be implemented in future activity.

You will manage key stakeholders internally and externally by:

 

  • Developing a strong network and day to day working relationship with the off-trade sales team;
  • Working with brand teams to ensure assets, activations, budgets and guidelines are aligned;
  • Work with cross functional business support teams (legal, supply chain, etc.) to ensure delivery of key project;
  • Engaging staff in venues around our brands and educate about our activations;
  • Managing multiple agencies to ensure the delivery of best-in-class activations;
  • Developing plans with media owners/planners across the channel i.e., Nectar 360, Dunnhumby, MMG etc.

Review Activation Performance & Share Feedback

 

  • Populate internal reporting tools accurately including quarterly reports;
  • Undertake post-activation analysis to measure impact;
  • Share learnings and results with sales and marketing teams to improve the impact of activations;
  • Share best practice and monitor competitor activity.

Profile

  • Experience in brand, sales or trade marketing roles;
  • Knowledge of the off-trade channel – grocery, specialists, fine wine merchants, cash & carry;
  • Strong understanding of MHUK brands and the luxury universe;
  • Strong skills in organisation, time and project management;
  • Knowledge of activation implementation / execution;
  • Strong creativity to think out of the box and develop new ideas;
  • Agency and supplier management experience;
