The Spirits Business is looking for an exceptional digital editor to join its London-based editorial team to cover maternity leave for 10 months, beginning 1 June 2026.
We are seeking a dynamic digital editor to manage The Spirits Business website, cover breaking news, drive traffic and oversee all social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook.
The ideal candidate will be a website traffic expert who knows how to grow online audiences, and is committed to increasing reader engagement through SEO, e-newsletters and social media. You will have a keen eye for breaking news and exclusive stories.
As a team player, you will also look after the news pages in The Spirits Business magazine, and will be asked to support the editorial team with feature writing as required.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Finding and writing news stories for the website daily
- Overseeing the digital and social media strategy to drive traffic and grow engagement across all platforms
- SEO – ensure optimisation across all platforms
- Researching, producing and breaking exclusive news stories online
- Staying on top of industry developments, trends and expertise across the spirits industry
- Creating and sustaining contacts with industry leaders
- Looking after news sections in The Spirits Business magazine and supporting the editor with feature writing when required
- Supporting the events and sales teams when required
- Attending industry events
- Some travel
- NCTJ qualification is preferable, but not essential
- Advanced editorial experience – as a senior journalist, you should be able to research, plan, structure, write and fact check your own work, and that of others. A sharp eye for grammar and accuracy is a must
- Experience as a digital journalist
- Knowledge of the spirits industry is not essential, provided you can demonstrate an interest in the sector
- Strong understanding and experience of SEO, Google analytics and growing online audiences
