Finance Operations Manager
Sugrue South Downs- Finance Operations Manager (4 days a week with immediate start)
Reporting to: Fractional Financial Controller / Directors
Sugrue South Downs is the award-winning producer of boutique English sparkling and still wines made by celebrated winemakers Dermot and Ana Sugrue.
The role
Finance Operations Manager will run core finance operations, manage month-end, keep HMRC and duty compliance on track and provide clean reporting to support better decisions.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsibility of Xero and maintain accurate day-to-day financial records
- Manage month-end, journals, reconciliations and reporting
- Prepared and submit payroll, VAT, duty, AWRS and wider HMRC compliance
- Manage credit control and supplier payments
- Support budgeting, reforecasting and P&L commentary
- Maintain stock and SKU-level finance control
- HR
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong bookkeeping / finance operations experience in an SME
- Confident user of Xero
- Experience with payroll, VAT and month-end close
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work without close supervision
- Product, stock, wine, retail, FMCG or manufacturing experience is helpful
Who you will work with:
- Internal: Sales Director, Winemaker and Marketing Director
- External: Directors and shareholders

Essential requirements

- Driving license and own transport
Salary is £35k for 4 days a week
Location of the role is flexible. It will sometimes be required to attend team meetings and essential to attend board and shareholders meetings.
