Sales Director - UK

Join the Edmunds Cocktails leadership team as our new Sales Director. In this pivotal role, you’ll work jointly with our management team to deliver our business plan, taking full ownership of our sales strategy and operating model. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a fantastic opportunity for a charismatic and experienced individual to lead our dynamic, high-growth company through its next exciting phase.

You will be looking to join a small, fast growing company, where your role will have a significant impact on the entire business.

This will be a home based role, but frequent national and occasional future international travel will be required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the sales vision and strategy, including channel strategy.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term sales and account management plans.
  • Create and refine the operating model to deliver the vision, sales strategy, and business plans, including team capabilities and capacities.
  • Lead your team to meet budgeted sales and profit targets by building and maintaining strategic customer partnerships.
  • Ensure customer retention and growth, alongside new sales aligned with the strategy and business plan.
  • Communicate sales and account management strategy effectively, influencing the Board for alignment and buy-in.
  • Developing strong, professional customer relationships to promote the brand and deliver the necessary growth.
  • Manage the sales and account management budget, ensuring prudent cost management of customer margins.
  • Being a highly visible figurehead for the business, both internally and across the wider UK retail landscape.
  • Providing the energy, support and challenge to ensure the brand meets the high expectations of retailers, consumers and internal stakeholders.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and opportunity identification.
  • Ensure strong collaboration between sales, marketing, and operations functions.
  • Play a key strategic role in the business’s ambitious growth plans.
  • Attend Management Board and investor meetings to ensure clear understanding and approval of sales strategy and execution.

The ideal candidate will be/will have the following skills and experience:

  • Significant drive and ambition combined with strong and deep commercial capability. You will know what ‘outstanding sales execution’ looks like and have the experience to successfully operate at Management Board level, bringing challenge, rigour and pace to the senior team.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to build, develop, and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Experience in coaching and development, delivering success through a sales and account management team.
  • A progressive leadership style, visible and engaged throughout the business.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels within the team.
  • Strong ambition and intellectual capability to lead a wide range of commercial activities

  • Experience influencing at Management Board and investor level to drive sales success.
  • A flexible approach, shifting from providing a hands-on approach through to developing strategic plans and team management.
  • An individual who has built a strong career in sales/commercial roles in branded food & drink before progressing to senior management. In essence, substantial experience of credible leadership at Sales or Commercial Director level within premium, branded, entrepreneurial FMCG environments.
  • A deep understanding of the UK On and Off Trade landscape. Combining strong commercial acumen with the ability to build close relationships with key customers and understand their business whilst identifying longer term opportunities in new products and channels.
  • Proven experience in building the Sales strategy for a business, prioritising opportunities effectively, constructing initiatives to deliver the vision and obtaining buy-in from all stakeholders and colleagues.
  • A high level of pragmatism and realism.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, probe, and influence.
