Marketing & Communications Officer - Content - Perth

Location: The Marketing & Communications Team ‘hub’ is in Perth, UK; however, the role would largely be remote/home working. Candidates should be based and able to work in the United Kingdom, ultimately with the ability to travel to locations across the UK, particularly Edinburgh and London and/or the Netherlands from time to time if required.

Salary: £26,500 – £28,500 dependent upon experience

The Marketing & Communications team is also responsible for the marketing of brands within the Retail portfolio which includes Royal Mile Whiskies, Drinkmonger and The Cigar Box.

The Role

The Marketing and Communications Officer (MCO) – Content will report to the Head of Content & Strategy within the Marketing and Communications team.

The MCO will also work very closely across the Marketing and Communications team, including with Creative and Customer Experience. They will support the development and delivery of overall marketing campaigns and content plans to reach audiences, engage users and deliver on each level of the marketing funnel, working closely and collaboratively with teams across the organisation.

For this role we are looking for a candidate with previous experience working in a marketing department. The ideal candidate will understand how to deliver marketing activities that meet objectives and how to measure the performance of their marketing activities. We are also interested in hearing from confident individuals who would feel comfortable in front of the camera representing and promoting our brands.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Researching, planning, writing, editing and posting content that is engaging, clear, consistent and supports individual marketing campaigns, objectives and activities across all brands.
  • Deliver on required tasks, plus suggest new approaches, within the Content and Strategy workstream of the Marketing team for promotional, informational or customer experience purposes.
  • Deliver on content development, copywriting and execution across various forms of communication and channels, including: email, blog/news, printed media, paid advertisements, social media and website copy.
  • Work collaboratively with our Creative team to produce engaging creative assets that support our marketing campaigns, including video.
  • Efficiently maintain website content to ensure consistent brand voice and operational excellence, including creating, auditing and optimising content for search engine optimisation.
  • Manage diverse social media accounts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram), including creating and scheduling content and engaging with followers to build brand loyalty.
  • Coordinate and execute engaging email marketing campaigns, including regular customer email communications and marketing automations in conjunction with senior marketing officers.
  • Support business development, customer experience and corporate communications by delivering on content activities such as internal communications.
  • Analyse and report on regular content marketing activities and projects/campaigns.
  • Stay updated on best practices and conduct research to support content development, identifying new trends, competitor actions and news that would enhance our offering in these departments.
  • Any other marketing or communications activities or duties that may arise.
  • Work across the organisation and department to support and deliver on workstreams, projects and tasks as required.

Person Specification

 

We are looking for a creative, committed, organised and forward-thinking marketing officer who has a particular skill set in building unique, engaging and informative content across a range of channels and for a variety of audiences.

Excellent copywriting and research skills, attention to detail, good communication and organisation are crucial. A keen interest in the world of whisky, wine, and spirits with a desire to learn more about the industry is key. This is a busy environment, so the ability to work independently, to tight timescales and to a consistent fashion is crucial. We rely on others across the organisation, so teamwork will be paramount.

 

Essential Experience

  • Researching, planning, creating, delivering and monitoring content
  • Crafting engaging content and copy for a variety of audiences through different channels
  • Creating content for a variety of platforms including social media, website, email, news/blog and printed publications (e.g., catalogues, etc)
  • Using marketing insight, data analytics and ongoing monitoring/feedback to deliver customer-centric content campaigns
  • Reviewing SEO and writing website and other content to capitalise and maximise on SEO opportunities
  • Developing and delivering content to support the customer experience

 

Desirable Experience

  • Building and nurturing partnerships to build content
  • Reporting on campaigns and partnerships
  • Working with a team to deliver on content goals
  • Working with a Public Relations team (supplier or in-house)

 

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with great attention to detail.
  • Strong project organisation skills – desirable experience using project management software (particularly Asana, or also Trello, Monday.com, etc.)

 

Desirable Skills

  • Additional European language proficiencies

 

Desirable Training and Qualifications

  • Relevant degree, qualification or education
  • WSET Level 2 Qualification (or higher) – and/or clearly relevant and equivalent experience/knowledge in the wine/spirts industry

 

Additional Info, Salary and Benefits

This is a permanent, full-time post. We are offering a starting salary between £26,500 – £28,500. A Group Bonus Scheme exists based on trading performance.

Our office hours are 08:45 to 17:15, Monday to Friday. Some additional evening and weekend work may be required to meet ad hoc events and deadlines. Flexible working is available.
