Management Accountant - London

We have an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to join the UK’s largest specialist wine retailer!

The Role:

 

Responsible for a preparation of the management accounts for the Majestic Group entities. You will be part of a talented and committed finance team, employing your first class technical and communication skills to drive a high-performance culture: doing the basics brilliantly and adding value to your business partners through developing strong working relationships, great storytelling, innovative ways of serving customers and supporting data-led, commercial decision-making

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the budget and  reforecast process, ensuring they are completed to a high level of accuracy, ensuring results are fully explained and all deadlines are achieved
  • Analyse, monitor, and drive awareness of expenses, generating opportunities to manage these down when needed
  • Create compelling ways to communicate financial performance to the wider business, driving engagement & profitable growth
  • Provide routine and ad-hoc analysis to support all areas of the business
  • Work collaboratively with counterparts across the Business to share methods of best practice and identify areas for improvement.
  • Responsible for month end close activities and reporting within business deadlines. WD4.
  • Maintaining balance sheet accounts, reconciled and clean within reporting deadline and with supporting data.
  • All income statement accounts analysed and explained for business areas using SEI reporting.
  • Compile monthly results, financial & non-financial KPIs across the Business.
  • Update business areas on Board Pack by WD4.
  • Provide support for annual statutory audit and  tax process.
  • Provide cover and support for counterparts within the Financial Reporting team.
  • Any other activities required to complete role.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Qualified accountant or studying for a  recognised accountancy qualification (such as AAT/ACA/ACCA/CIMA etc.) with ideally 3-4 years experience in the UK.
  • Sage/SEI experience desirable
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to summarise and explain processes clearly and concisely
  • Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Well organised and effective person with good time management and prioritisation skills
  • A self-starter and motivated person, who can demonstrate initiative and able to work independently when needed
  • Eager to take responsibilities and take initiative
  • Ability to demonstrate what good looks like and maintain robust balance sheet reconciliations
  • High level of spreadsheet modelling ability (e.g. lookup functions, pivot tables) desirable.
  • Good communication skills with the confidence and credibility to interact with senior management.

  • Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract
  • Location: Watford and Hemel Hempstead. Our Head Office is based in Watford, just 20 minutes from London Euston. From Watford Junction, we are a 15-minute walk to our Head Office.
