About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and knowledgeable wine professional to come and join our Tesco Beers, Wines and Spirits team here at Tesco!

You’ll be working closely with our suppliers and winemakers and be responsible for all own label blends for the countries under your remit.

Together with the Category, Product and Customer teams you’ll help to curate the most appropriate and exciting range propositions for customers here at Tesco.

You will be responsible for

  • Responsible for our label wine quality and for our countries of responsibility from blend selection with winemakers through to production.
  • Manging all personal travel requirements for business trips in line with Tesco’s policy.
  • Working collaboratively with the Buying Manager to resolve OL volumes in advance of new vintage blends.
  • Reviewing and improving the range proposition in conjunction with suppliers, buying managers and the customer manager.
  • Taking an active role in monthly MQRs with the Product Team to ensure products that are most meaningful to customers are constantly reviewed and that BWS quality scores are going above and beyond.
  • Being the recognised expert for your areas of responsibility including knowledge of major competitor ranges.
  • Working collaboratively with the PR manager and agency, ensuring that Tesco Press tastings and SOV are outstanding, and all competition and press lists/books are completed in a timely manner.
  • Communicating and owning delivery of critical path for all relevant OL NPD.
  • Leading the relationship and communication of OL Product info with all internal stakeholders Brand, Design, Agencies and CPM.
  • Following the Business Code of Conduct, always acting with integrity and due diligence.
  • Adhering to all Tesco policies, storage and hand over protocols and optimally completing all my training.

You will need

  • WSET Diploma qualification, blending, winemaking.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant wine experience in On or Off trade.
  • Range curation, Wine Suppliers and Producers experience.
  • Merchandise Planning or Critical Path Management.
  • Proven track record of making decisions on Market Data.

Operational Skills

 

  • Wine tasting/knowledge to minimum of WSET Diploma level.
  • Commercial, numerate and financial competence.
  • Customer Management & Influencing.
  • Communication Skills & Building Relationships.
  • Literacy and wine description writing.
