Educator Development and Training Lead – Hybrid/London

Overall Responsibility

The Educator Development team is part of the Product team at WSET. It is focused on providing training and support to new and existing educators, who will teach classroom courses and via the Online Classroom. The team plays a crucial role in empowering educators and improving their skills to ensure that all WSET students receive high-quality learning experiences.

As Educator Development and Training Lead, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of delivering online educator training and the Educator Training Programme (ETP), as well as continuing professional development for educators.

Delivery of educator training

  • Deliver online educator training for new Online Classroom educators and assess their suitability to work as freelance educators for WSET.
  • Monitor performance of Online Classroom educators through onboarding and delivery phases.
  • Manage the verification and quality monitoring process for online educators and markers.
  • Support delivery of and assessment on ETP.
  • Respond to internal and external queries related to the teaching of WSET courses. (via Case Management)

Online delivery and development of continuing professional development

  • Deliver and support development of continuing professional development for educators, suitable for both those who have attended and those who have not attended the ETP.
  • Deliver update training to educators.
  • Deliver and support development of online preparation course for those who will attend the ETP.

Support development of online educator training and ETP

  • Update and make improvements to online educator training.
  • Work with others in the Educator Development team to update and make improvements to the ETP ensuring it is aligned with updates in classroom and virtual courses and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Create resources with others in the Educator Development team.
  • Analyse candidate surveys to recommend and implement improvements to educator training at WSET.

Support development of other WSET products

  • As part of the wider Product team, support development of new WSET products with focus on incorporating effective teaching methodologies, ensuring existing educators are updated and upskilled in line with updates, and adapting the ETP and online educator training accordingly.
  • Ensure training materials are accurate, engaging, and aligned with the organisation’s educational goals.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to collect feedback on the training materials and their usability and impact. Using this feedback, evaluate the effectiveness of the materials, identify areas for improvement, and revise the materials accordingly.
  • Ensure content developed meets agreed accessibility standards. Employ an inclusive approach when developing content.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Product team and other stakeholders to integrate new content into WSET courses.

Research

  • Stay updated with developments in educational theory and practice.
  • Communicate research findings and make suggestions to Product team.
  • Plan and conduct customer (educator and student) research to inform the update and development of educator training and WSET qualifications.
  • Record research findings in a manner that can be easily found and used by other team members.

Other Activities

  • Where needed support direct delivery of WSET courses for Online Classroom, WSET School, or custom courses.

Other Responsibilities

  • Undertake other tasks relevant to the role.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Experience delivering/teaching content in live and/or online settings, preferably with adult learners.
  • Experience of training other educators.
  • Experience with digital content development and eLearning platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and high-level of written English.
  • Experience in producing educational content development.
  • Strong understanding of accessible instructional design principles and pedagogy.

Desirable Criteria

  • WSET Certified Educator and/or Online Educator.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in education or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the use of multimedia and technology in educational materials.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in education and content development.
  • WSET qualifications, especially at Level 3 or 4.

 


Definitions:

Fully remote – Can be performed entirely remotely from any location.

Hybrid remote – Performed as a mixture of in-office and remote work.

Temporarily remote – Performed in a single location, such as an office or at a job site, but which is temporarily remote during special circumstances).
