Harvest winery assistant - Hampshire
Established in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, Hambledon Vineyard is England’s Oldest Commercial Vineyard. Seventy years later, under the esteemed guidance of Berry Bros. & Rudd and Symington Family Estates, we continue to pride ourselves on our rich heritage and our shared goal: to create the Finest English Sparkling Wine.
To achieve this goal, we are looking for a winery assistant to support our winery team during Harvest.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Harvest winery assistant.
JOB TYPE: Temporary from 16th of September to 18th of November.
SALARY: £12.5/hour (40h/week) + flat rate unlimited overtime+ accommodation provided+ meal during Harvest.
REPORTING TO: Winemakers and winery supervisors
WORKING WITH: Cellar and winery assistants, seasonal staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:
· Assist the winemakers in production of both Hambledon and contact customer wines.
· Assist with all winery operations including fruit receival/processing, pressing, racking, ferments, lab analysis, barrel work, additions.
· Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and sanitation as well as health and safety standards at all times.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES:
· 1 year+ winery experience and/or wine production qualification, beneficial but not essential.
· Self-motivated and well organised
· Forklift licence, beneficial but not essential.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES:
· Ability to work well in a small team.
· Understand the importance of winery/cellar hygiene and tidiness.
· The understanding that shifts could last up to 12 hours during harvest with some weekend work.
· Willingness to learn on the job.
· Ability to lift 25kg.
· The right to work in England (we cannot sponsor any Visa)
QUALITIES:
· Self-motivated and well organised.
· Good communication and leadership skills.
· Great attention to detail.
· Mechanically skilled an advantage.
· Problem solving.
· Ability to work long hours, night shifts and weekends when required.
· Ability to lift 20kg.
