GLOBAL DIRECTOR PR & INFLUENCE (MATERNITY COVER) - LONDON

Your Opportunity
 
To champion, promote and deliver best in class PR and influencer strategies and activations, embedding our brands into the cultural conversation. Work within a small but dynamic team of PR Senior Managers and PR Directors, who report to the VP of PR & Influence, across a portfolio of world-class brands. Your main responsibility will be for the Scotch and Irish whisk(e)y portfolio – DEWAR’S Blended Scotch Whisky, our portfolio of Single Malts and Teeling Irish Whiskey.
Partnering with the Global Brand team, the Europe Regional Team and the North America Team, you will be responsible for leading and activating world-class brand-building campaigns and influencing and consulting on activations across emerging markets in Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA).
Part of the role is enhancing and protecting our reputation within the world of whisk(e)y, profiling our key stakeholders, and working collaboratively with Corporate Communications to build our renown for whisky-making.
About You 
 
This role is for an experienced communicator (min. 12+ years) who has a track record in influencing multiple stakeholder groups in regions around the world and is a confident self-starter in their work style. You are a doer, not a delegator. You see the big picture but are not afraid to get hands dirty and approach projects in a collaborative manner working in cross-functional teams, across EUR and North American time zones, within a matrix Global business. Someone who gets things done, plans and executes with excellence, can lead, and manage multiple projects at one time, and who has a good sense of humour.

RESPONSIBILITIES

With our Consumer at the heart, your key focus will be to:
  • To champion, promote and deliver best in class PR, publicity and influencer strategy, plans and execution that embed our brands into the cultural conversation of consumers and into the hearts and minds of the bartending/advocacy community.
  • Work within a small but dynamic team of PR Senior Managers and PR Directors, who report to the VP of PR & Influence, across a portfolio of world-class brands.
  • Lead PR & I for DEWAR’S Scotch Whisky, our portfolio of five Scottish Single Malts and TEELING Irish Whiskey, partnering with the Global Brand team, the Europe Regional Team and the North America Team, leading and activating world-class brand-building campaigns and supporting our epic cultural platforms across the globe.
  • Lead multiple PR agency relationships in Europe and North America, and have the gravitas to operate at senior levels in a matrix global organisation. Working collaboratively with in-market leads, and support and influence work being activated in Global Travel Retail and our Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region.
  • Partner with the DEWAR’S Global Brand Team (London-based) to develop and lead the annual PR & influencer strategy and activity calendar, as well as goal setting and measurement. In particular, work collaboratively with Global and Regional teams to execute FY26 Global Brand Act / Partnership, the first global campaign of this kind for the brand in a number of years.
  • As the lead market, partner with the DEWAR’S North America Brand Team (Miami-based) to develop and lead the annual PR & influencer strategy and activity calendar, and work hand-in-hand on tentpole moments, including the US Open (Golf), and always-on press office.
  • Grow and protect the wider reputation of the portfolio of whisk(e)y brands at Bacardi, working hand-in-hand with Supply Chain Communications Director and Europe Corporate Communications Director.
  • Lead profiling for key spokespeople, namely DEWAR’S Master Blender, being the filter for media and event speaking opportunities – navigating the myriad of requests from both in-market leads, PR agencies and other external requests and ensuring we are sensitively cultivating her profile and that of the wider Blending team.
  • Work closely with inter-agency teams to activate innovative PR, Social and Influencer campaigns and events, including management of red carpet/event and on-site press plus editorial video content at tent-pole events to ensure activity is amplified as broadly as it can be.
  • In addition to “flagship” PR moments, work with agencies to ensure a steady stream of media coverage year round through hardworking and creative press office plans; reinvigorate press and buzz around noteworthy brand homes, archives and unique brand histories.
  • Create captivating brand narratives and series of soundbites to ensure stories are compelling for the target audience.
  • Occasional travel within Europe and North America predominantly, required as part of the role.

The Skills & Experience needed to create your legacy
  • Proven ability to think strategically and expertise in delivering culture-defining PR, Influencer and Comms work for iconic global brands with cultural platforms, executing brilliantly to build brand awareness and allure.
  • This role is for a leader who is a doer, not a delegator. You see the big picture but are not afraid to get hands dirty and approach projects in a collaborative manner working in cross-functional teams within a matrix Global business. Someone who gets things done, plans and executes with excellence, can lead and manage multiple projects at one time and who has a good sense of humour.
  • This role would suit a communications expert who thrives on variety and a broad spectrum of work, from developing and delivering high impact brand campaigns to nuanced, strategic profiling.
  • An experienced strong communicator with the ability to influence multiple-stakeholders; you’ll have a track-record in partnering with Executives, Brand Spokespeople, Ambassadors and Influencers to deliver outstanding Comms campaigns, this will stand you in good stead to ensure alignment, understanding and buy-in.
  • Experience identifying, negotiating and activating social influencers and media-worthy Talent to build earned-first campaign ideas, drive noise and editorial.
  • This person knows how to advise and execute across traditional media publicity, events, digital and video communications; social and influencer activations and partnerships to ensure our brands use the most modern PR methods.
  • Global perspective is a must. Ideally you’ll have experience with and understanding of the North American / US media landscape, as well as European media. Experience in AMEA markets is a plus.
  • Experience of delivering Hubbed PR & Influence work is a must.
