Regional Sales Manager - Northern England & Scotland

Mentzendorff is a wine & spirits agency business, managing both sales distribution to all trade channels and brand marketing to the consumer and trade throughout the UK.
Mentzendorff is composed of 42 employees – with half being field-based Sales and half office-based Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Services and Finance.
Job purpose (Mission)
To represent the Mentzendorff portfolio to an expanding & developing account base of trade customers across Scotland and Northern England.
Core Customer Channels:
Independent Retail, Regional Wholesale, Online, On-Trade, Hybrid Wine Merchants
You will use your charisma, authority, enthusiasm and growing wine knowledge to build new relationships & enhance existing ones across the account base to strengthen links between Mentzendorff, its principals and the regional trade.
Responsibilities (Activities/Autonomy)
- Targets: Manage and grow an extensive and diverse account base to deliver an agreed volume and net margin budget split by brand, in line with key priority brand KPI targets.
- Relationship Building: Creating new and enhancing existing long-term relationships between Mentzendorff and the regional trade.
- Prospecting: Develop, implement and maintain a rolling new business prospect database, regularly tracking and reviewing, and reporting converted accounts monthly.
- Business Development: Gaining new accounts, distribution and listings across the portfolio of brands
- Budgeting: Full AMP and P&L responsibility for your account base. Operating within Expenses budget.
- Brand Building: Executing specified brand development projects, new product & vintage launches.
- Ambassadorial Duties: Sales pitches, masterclasses, staff training, events, dinners, trade tastings
Knowledge and Experience and Qualifications
- WSET level 2 or above is desirable. Ongoing training and support will be provided to continue further development into a market leading Regional Account Manager.
- It will be essential to demonstrate a strong commitment to & knowledge of the premium wine sector in particular Independent Specialists, Regional Wholesale & hybrid wine merchants.
- Experience of working in a wine-focused environment and good level of wine knowledge desired.
- Previous experience as a Sales account executive, wine shop manager or business development advantageous.

Other
Frequent travel is required in this role. Late night and evening working is also a requirement in line with the needs of the customer. Whilst your focus will be on increasing revenue there will be times when you are expected to be flexible in your position to help with project & account management workload.
