Brand Manager

Due to rapid growth of the business and an expanding portfolio of producer partners, we are looking for an experienced Brand Manager to join the marketing team. The Brand Manager will be responsible for a portfolio of key brands, covering all aspects of trade marketing for both grocery and independent customers, category management for key regions and countries, and will have a pivotal role in the development of new products within their portfolio of brands.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for production and implementation of creative and innovative trade-focussed brand plans in partnership with the brand owner.
  • Own and manage the country specific category and provide information to the wider NSW team on trends, issues and opportunities with a pro-active, problem solving approach.
  • Devise channel specific campaigns, through specialist knowledge of each trade channel, to drive sales and achieve growth. Identify opportunities for new distribution.
  • Work with brand owner and internal stakeholders on NPD, brand building and story-telling.
  • Work closely with department heads and sales team to drive business plans linked to sales and distribution.
  • Manage own label requirements for relevant producers, working with the brand owner, sales team and customer to realise projects on time.
  • Communicate brand plans and USPs to NSW sales team and where relevant, key customers and motivate teams to promote the brands.
  • Monitor performance of brand sales and profitability. Provide monthly reporting of brand performance to brand owner.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of spend ROI and provide feedback and recommendations for action.
  • Manage brand marketing budgets in conjunction with NSW buyer and brand owner.
  • Represent managed brands at events.
  • Oversee or support management of brand PR agencies in conjunction with brand owner.
  • Create brand marketing materials and sales tools including POS with support from brand owner.
  • Liaise with relevant generic bodies and disseminate relevant data and campaign information.
  • Plan and manage producer trips and itineraries in the market and customer trips to the winery, supported by the marketing and sales assistant.
  • Focus on ROI for all outbound and inbound trips and work with sales team to evaluate activity and ensure all business leads are followed up.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience managing brands or customer marketing within FMCG or drinks, with a strong track record of delivery.
  • Excellent level of written English.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Digital proficiency, particularly Powerpoint and Excel, plus familiarity with digital marketing and design tools (e.g. Mailchimp; Canva) and social media platforms.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • WSET qualification to Level 3 or a demonstrable interest in wine.

Desirable

  • Qualified to degree level or a relevant vocational qualification.
  • A keen eye for good copy, design and detail.
  • Effective time management – able to work under pressure and to agreed deadlines.
  • Demonstrable initiative and proactive problem solving skills.
  • Team player and quick learner.
  • Able to prioritise long-term projects whilst meeting short-term demands.
  • Ability to manage and exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • A knowledge of written and spoken Spanish would be an advantage.
