Assistant Vineyard Manager

Do you have vineyard, winery or viticulture experience?
Are you skilled in leading, managing, and motivating teams of staff?
Reporting directly to the Vineyard Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the vineyard, managing staff and contractors. This role requires a hands-on approach, with a significant portion of your time spent outdoors in varying weather conditions. You will play a key role in vineyard operations, from pruning to harvest, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Vineyard Operations: Pruning, canopy management, fertilisation, pest control, and vineyard maintenance.
- Machinery & Site Maintenance: Ground management and trellis upkeep, with ability to drive tractors and machinery.
- Staff Supervision & Training: Lead, motivate, and manage vineyard workers, ensuring efficient work practices and high morale.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Conduct risk assessments, and ensure safe working practices.
- Harvest Management: Organise and supervise harvest operations, working closely with contractors and winery staff.
- Record Keeping & Budget Management: Maintain accurate logs of vineyard activities, yields, and expenses.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a commercial vineyard.
- PA1 and PA3 spraying certificates.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and work independently.
- Hands-on approach with a strong work ethic.
- Computer literate.
- Full Right to Work in the UK.
- Knowledge of vineyard machinery and health & safety regulations.
Desirable
- Fork-lift qualification.
- First Aid trained.
