Assistant Event Coordinator

DEADLINE: 07/06/2025
Who Are We?
Pacific Wines is a young wine retail business specialising in American produced wine, from California, Oregon and Washington. Our shop is located in the heart of Islington; right on the entrance to Camden Passage. We are committed to helping UK consumers develop their understanding of the world of American wine, break down misconceptions that surround the region, and showcase the best of what it has to offer!
The Job
Events are at the heart of life here at Pacific Wines. A role as Assistant Events Coordinator would include responsibilities in developing, delivering and marketing our ticketed, private and corporate events. We are looking to expand our small team with more passionate and energetic people, who wish to develop their knowledge in this area of the world.
You will work a 35-40 hour week, with work rota’d in 2 weeks in advance, including a mix of daytime and evening work and weekend days. You will be delivering events on a weekly basis, alongside working on the shop floor and utilising office time to develop and market events.
You will receive training in our stock as well as being offered WSET Level 2 (if required) and Capstone (Californian wine training) Level 1 training.
Attributes, Skills and Experience Requirements
We are looking for a motivated and experienced events candidate with demonstrable leadership skills and a serious passion for wine. Your key attributes must include:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional and able to represent the brand
- Team player who is able to be flexible with their hours, days off and duties.
- Passionate about wine
- Proactive desire to work on your general knowledge of wine and the USA as a key player on the global stage. This is essential as it will allow you to have the confidence to talk to our customers about the wine we sell with credibility.
Alongside this we are looking for someone who has a friendly, vibrant and engaging personal style, someone who customers will be happy to approach with questions.
Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with tenacity, who is driven to improve both themselves and their wider working environment. Our ideal candidate will enjoy working in a customer focused role, and is someone who understands that every encounter is a potential opportunity for a repeat customer. Confidence with speaking to large groups, leading events and taking an approachable and friendly manner to talking about wine is all a must!
Experience with running events is a plus, as is an understanding of marketing, but we are interested in candidates with transferable skills and a passion to grow their knowledge and skill sets. Training on all aspects of the job will be given, with consistent support throughout the role in developing skill sets. We are a small team who value honest and open communication, and we are always striving to improve.
